AI assistants can support purchasing when the website, payment system and assistant platform provide compatible capabilities. Being discoverable in an AI answer is different from allowing an agent to create an order. A readable website is a starting point, not a complete purchasing integration.

Separate the stages

Discovery helps an assistant find and understand the offer. Selection requires accurate scope, pricing and eligibility. Checkout requires a reliable way to create the correct transaction, and payment requires authorization to spend. Fulfilment then needs an order record and a clear status.

A business can support some stages without supporting all of them. An assistant may explain a package and send the customer to a hosted checkout without completing payment itself.

Keep business rules on the server

An agent should not be allowed to decide its own price, discount or eligibility. The business system should calculate the authoritative total and currency, verify selected options and reject stale or invalid requests.

For a custom service, the system also needs to explain what happens after payment. A website order may require a completed brief before production begins; paying is not the same as completing that brief.

Use a controlled purchasing path

A sensible initial approach is to let an assistant retrieve public offer details and create a checkout link, then let the customer review and authorize payment in the supported checkout. More automated payment requires additional platform support and properly bounded authority.

Preserve customer control

Show the final amount, currency and relevant terms before commitment. Record the outcome reliably and make retries safe so a repeated request does not create duplicate purchases.

The goal is not to give an AI unrestricted access to a business account. It is to offer a narrow, understandable transaction path that respects the customer's intent and the business's actual fulfilment process.
