Structured data is a machine-readable description of information on a page. It can help systems interpret entities such as an organization, article or offer. It should reflect what the page actually says, not add invisible claims that visitors cannot verify.

Choose the type that fits the page

An editorial article and a business service offer have different purposes. Ask your developer to select appropriate types and properties rather than attaching the same large block of markup to every page.

Business names, URLs, prices and dates should match the visible content. If information is unknown, do not invent it to make a validator look complete.

Understand eligibility limits

Valid markup does not guarantee a special search appearance. Search engines decide which features to display, and individual features have additional policies and eligibility requirements. See Google's introduction to structured data.

Do not assume a custom service can be treated exactly like a stocked retail product, or that adding FAQ markup automatically produces an expanded search result. The page and feature rules still matter.

Avoid unsupported proof

Never create review counts, ratings, awards or availability statements simply to enrich the markup. A fictional sample business is not a source of real customer reviews. Structured information needs the same factual discipline as the public copy.

Maintain it with the content

If a price or service changes, update the structured description at the same time. Ideally, visible content and markup should come from the same verified data source so they do not drift apart.

Validate the implementation and inspect representative published pages. A technically valid block can still describe the wrong thing.

Think of structured data as careful labelling, not a promotional shortcut. It supports a useful website by making existing information more explicit. It cannot make weak evidence strong, convert a misleading offer into a trustworthy one or promise that an AI system will recommend the business.
