Your first business website needs enough content to explain the offer and support a confident next step. There is no useful universal word count. A short page can be complete for a simple service, while a complex offer may need more explanation.
Start with customer decisions
Write down what a visitor must know before contacting you. Usually this includes what you do, where you do it, who it is for, what makes the service suitable and how to begin. Those questions form the outline.
For each section, ask whether the information changes a decision. A detailed company history may be interesting, but service coverage and contact details are often more urgent on a first visit.
Be specific without becoming exhaustive
Instead of saying you handle all property needs, name the work you actually undertake. Instead of saying contact us for more information beneath every section, explain what information is needed for an estimate.
You do not need to describe every possible exception on the homepage. Link to fuller terms or explain that unusual requests require confirmation. The key is to avoid hiding a limitation that would materially change the purchase decision.
Use examples to make the offer clear
A short example can replace several vague paragraphs. A cleaning business could describe a typical recurring visit and distinguish it from a deep clean. A designer could explain what a first draft contains. Label hypothetical examples so they are not mistaken for actual customer results.
Keep the maintenance burden realistic
Every extra page creates information that may need updating. If you cannot maintain a large blog or detailed availability calendar, do not make it essential to the website's usefulness. Build around dependable information first.
A practical first draft can include a clear introduction, a service section, relevant proof, frequently asked questions and a contact section. Read it as a potential customer and remove repetition. Add content where a question remains unanswered, not where the page merely looks short.
