A small business website is ready to launch when its essential information is accurate, its main actions work and someone unfamiliar with the business can use it. Attractive screenshots are not enough. Test the customer journey before sharing the link widely.

Check the business information

Read the business name, phone number, email, opening hours and service area aloud. Verify each against a reliable source. Confirm that services, prices and availability statements are current. Remove placeholder copy, fictional reviews and unsupported claims.

If the site includes a sample project, label it as a sample. Check image permissions and make sure customer details are not visible in photos without appropriate permission.

Test the primary action

Tap every call, email, quote, booking and order link. Send a real test enquiry through any form and verify that it arrives at the correct destination. Check the response message so the visitor knows what happens next.

For an order flow, confirm the displayed amount, currency and selected options before payment. A page that looks finished is not proof that its payment or fulfilment system works.

Use a phone, not only a desktop

Read the page on a narrow screen. Check that text is comfortable, buttons do not overlap and navigation remains usable. Look for oversized images, cropped contact details and forms that require unnecessary zooming.

Also try using the keyboard. The page should not depend entirely on precise mouse movements to reach important controls.

Verify the public destination

Open the real website address in a fresh browser session. Confirm that HTTPS works and that important pages do not require an unintended login. Ask your developer to check indexing directives, canonical addresses and broken links.

Assign an owner for updates

Decide who changes holiday hours, fixes errors and monitors enquiries. Put a first review date on the calendar. A launch is the beginning of maintaining accurate information, not the end of the work.

Finish by asking someone outside the business to find a service and contact you. Their hesitation often reveals a problem you stopped noticing.
